As a pro skater Hosoi has traveled the world, won tons of contests, and made more money than he knew what to do with.ĭuring what seemed to be the most successful time of his life, things began to fall apart as Hosoi found himself battling a serious addiction to Crystal Meth.

He has even been featured in Tony Hawk’s Project 8, video game.

He has been in numerous documentaries and movies. Through his various sponsors/endorsements (including: Quicksilver, Vans, Converse, etc), Hosoi has had clothing lines, shoes, boards (most famous was the “hammer head” board design) and more named after him. His highest was 12 feet above the top of a ramp that could be up to 24 feet in the air! While he is most famous for his vertical riding, he has been a fierce competitor in “Street Skating” since it hit the scene as well. He was notorious for pulling huge aerials. Throughout the course of his career, he has competed with the best of the best including Steve Caballero, Mike McGill, Mark “Gator” Rogowski, and Tony Hawk. He was most famous for his “vert” style of skating and invented several tricks, including the, “Christ Air” and “Rocket Air.” (And still kills at competitions today!) He went pro when he was just 14 and started his own company at 17. Hosoi, also called, “Christ” and “Holmes,” has been riding a skateboard since the age of five, in the mid 70’s – before most of you were born.
